Site is located is a rural area of rolling hills with very low density residential among pasture and croplands with patches of mature woodlands. Hives face southeast with pine trees that provide late afternoon shade. Sun in morning to early afternoon.

Hive has 2 large brood chambers and 3 honey supers that contain a 1 year old Carniolan queen with a lot of spunk.
Scale:
Toledo scale – platform 18x24 in, 1000 lb capacity with 0.5 lb increments. Leveled on pavers over crushed stone exposed to the weather.
