What Can Volunteers Do? (Including non-beekeepers!)

• Education - Nature/Climate Change/Pollinators
• Document Phenology Dates/Changes
  • Join the National Phenology Network
  • Record Blooming Dates (esp. Nectar Plants - see Project Budburst)
• Use Observation Hives* to locate sources - decode the dances - go on a treasure hunt
• Collect pollen samples from the bees
• Estimate abundance of Tulip trees and Black Locust and American Holly and other nectar sources
• Provide forage, nesting sites for solitary bees
• Rent a hive (A multimillion dollar industry)

*Many Science & Nature Centers have Observation Hives
